This book examines the project in its historical and international contexts, with an introduction by Charles Esche, core essay by Rachel Weiss and extensive documentary photographs. Crucial texts from the time by Luis Camnitzer, Coco Fusco, Geeta Kapur, Mirko Lauer and Llilian Llanes Godoy are brought together with vital new material, including a reflection on the project by Gerardo Mosquera, a key member of the curatorial team, and recent interviews with participating artists Alex Ángeles, José Bedia, Alfredo Márquez and Lázaro Saavedra.
